Forensic Scene and Vehicle Mapping

Crash reconstruction is the ultimate detective work, essentially reverse-engineering the elements of a scene to determine the cause of a crash. That includes the physical science and forensics behind the incident.

Using the 3D point cloud data collected from the LiDAR scanning and aerial photogrammetric mapping, investigators are able to develop highly detailed 2D and 3D models of crash vehicles and crash scenes for analysis.

For example, when compared with OEM CAD files of an exemplar vehicle the amount of crush caused by a collision can easily be measured and used to determine the amount of kinetic energy (speed) required to produce the observed deformation.  Also, the vast amount of data collected enables our experts to create highly detailed scene diagrams and even forensic animations.
