Anthony M. Fairbanks

Promoting traffic safety in our communities by stimulating understanding

Anthony M. Fairbanks has spent more than 23 years in law enforcement dedicated to the understanding of collisions and impaired driving.  As a Traffic Homicide Reconstructionist, Anthony gained a broad understanding of the dynamics involved in collisions and has used this knowledge to determine the causal factors in numerous complex serious and fatal traffic collisions.  Additionally, as drug and alcohol impaired driving expert, Anthony’s years of experience investigating suspected impaired drivers has helped him not only identify impaired drivers, but also those drivers experiencing physical and medical ailments that mimic drug and alcohol impairment.

While appointed as an Adjunct Professor for both Seminole State College and Daytona State College, Anthony has instructed hundreds of students on the modern techniques involved in advanced traffic collisions investigations, drug and alcohol impairment Investigations, breath alcohol testing, and Law Enforcement Vehicle Operations.

Currently, as a police officer assigned to the Traffic Division of a Central Florida law enforcement agency, Anthony has become responsible for promoting roadway safety by advancing the departments’ traffic safety and impaired driving enforcement programs.  While doing so, Anthony has applied his vast experience conducting impaired driving and collision investigations by using modern forensic investigative techniques, including the creation of detailed investigative reports, use of LiDAR and aerial mapping systems, and advanced software used to develop detailed 2D diagrams and 3D forensic animations.

Through a comprehensive understanding of the physics involved in vehicle collisions, vehicle engineering and human behavioral and environmental factors, Anthony has consistently been able to successfully articulate in both the criminal and civil court environments the pre- and post-series of events involved collisions, factors contributing to a collision and the primary cause of a collision.
